The North Dayi District Assembly, in collaboration with the North Dayi Local Council of Churches, successfully observed the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Friday, 3rd July 2026, at the District Assembly Hall, Anfoega. Part of a broader national initiative instituted by the Government of Ghana, the event sought to unite citizens in prayer, thanksgiving, and moral reflection to support the nation’s peaceful and prosperous development.

The programme gathered a diverse cross-section of stakeholders—including government officials, traditional authorities, clergy, heads of decentralized departments, security personnel, Assembly Members, public servants, students, and local residents—to pray for national peace, unity, and progress. The central objectives of the observance were to promote national unity, peace, and interfaith harmony, encourage civic integrity, discipline, honesty, and patriotism, intercede through prayer for the Leadership, Government, Parliament, Judiciary, Security Services, and citizens of Ghana and renew public commitment to building a prosperous nation rooted in shared moral values.

After the opening prayer by Apostle David Nukunu, the scripture readings [Leviticus 19:15 – Read by Mr. Albert K. Dodo (Headmaster, Anfoega SHS) in Ewe; and Mr. John Yao Agbeko Adzah (District Director of Education) in English | 1 Timothy 6:10 – Read by Mr. Kelvin Abotsi (District Information Officer) in Ewe; and Mr. Henry Adu (Assistant Director, Internal Audit Agency) in English | Matthew 5:9 – Read by Mr. Anthony Dzato (District Director, Complementary Education Agency) in Ewe; and Mr. David Tekpor (District Director, Ghana Health Service) in English.]

Rev. E.M.K. Zentey delivered the main sermon urging Ghanaians to adopt honesty, justice, humility and love as foundational drivers of national transformation. He stressed that moral renewal requires active commitment across families, religious bodies, and public institutions. This was followed by, Thanksgiving and Intercession prayers lead by Mrs. Irene Boateng and Rev. Joseph M. Togbo respectively.

The Hon. Ernest Adevor addressing the congregation, expressed his gratitude to the clergy, traditional leaders, and residents for their active participation. He highlighted that the theme, “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want,” serves as an urgent call for every citizen to demonstrate accountability, discipline, and respect for the rule of law. Hon. Adevor reaffirmed the Assembly’s pledge to foster inclusive governance and sustainable local development, appealing to residents to support ongoing government initiatives in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture.
