The North Dayi District Assembly, under the leadership of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Adevor, has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering inclusion and empowerment by extending livelihood support to persons with disabilities across the district and a free National Identification Card registration or renewals exercise. This initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader vision of building an inclusive society where no resident is left behind.

The District Chief Executive, accompanied by Assembly officials, presented a wide range of livelihood support items to beneficiaries. A total of 50 beneficiaries were reached, with 50 items distributed during this exercise. The distribution was conducted in line with the Assembly’s mandate to promote social equity and sustainable development.

The support packages were carefully selected to enhance productivity, promote self-reliance, and diversify income-generating activities among beneficiaries. These items included agricultural and industrial tools, provisions and financial assistance; Gas ovens, deep freezers, fufu pounding machines, Farm  irrigation  machines,  cassava  milling  machines,  palm  kernel  expelling machines, Industrial sewing machines, ingredients grinding machines, and metal containers, Provisions including maize, soya beans, and groundnuts, Goat’s wire mesh, pigs, and direct cash support.

In his remarks, Hon. Ernest Adevor encouraged recipients to make effective use of the items to improve their livelihoods. He advised beneficiaries not to sell or misuse the items, urging them to use the support responsibly for lasting empowerment.

He also reassured the residents that another round of distribution for persons with disabilities will follow next month, made possible through central government funding. Hon. Adevor further emphasized that the selection process was fair and transparent, ensuring that support reaches those most in need. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to providing opportunities for persons with disabilities to contribute meaningfully to the district’s socio-economic growth.

One of the most touching moments of the day came when Hon. Ernest Adevor and the District Coordinating Director presented a standard wheelchair to a local resident. For someone struggling to get around due to a disability, this simple gift is life-changing—offering them physical support, their independence back, and the freedom to easily move around the community again.
