Working Visit of Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, Project Commissioning, Sod-Cutting Ceremonies, And Sports Support

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, conducted a high-profile working visit to the North Dayi District to commission critical water infrastructure and initiate major educational facility projects. Accompanying the Regional Minister were the Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh Quarshie, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Adevor, along with key heads of departments, traditional rulers, and education stakeholders.

During the visit, the Regional Minister formally commissioned two (2) solar-powered mechanised boreholes at Anfoega Senior High School and Vakpo Senior High School under his flagship Water for All Project. Additionally, leadership performed official sodcutting ceremonies for six (6) transformative educational infrastructure projects spanning both second-cycle and basic education sectors across the district.

The Water for All Project

To address long-standing water challenges and promote environmental sustainability, Hon. James Gunu officially handed over two state-of-the-art solar-powered mechanised boreholes; Anfoega Senior High School and Vakpo Senior High School. These systems are designed to provide uninterrupted, clean, and safe drinking water to students and staff while reducing reliance on the conventional power grid.

Ø    Vakpo Senior High Tech. School – Two-Storey Boys’ Dormitory

Ø    Aveti-Denui D/A JHS, Anfoega – 3-Unit Classroom Block

Ø    Botoku Bradatornu D/A JHS – 3-Unit Classroom Block

Ø    Tsrukpe Zanukofe D/A JHS – 3-Unit Classroom Block

Addressing the gatherings at the respective project sites, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon.  James  Gunu,  delivered  key  updates  on  Government  policy,  financial accountability, and project execution guidelines. He commended the MP for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh Quarshie, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Adevor, local chiefs, and school administrations for their seamless inter-agency collaboration while assuring that full funding for the projects – including the Two-Storey Girls’ Dormitory at ANFOSEC – has been secured in advance. He emphasized that this aligns directly with the Government’s policy framework to eliminate uncompleted or abandoned public infrastructure.

Recognizing the vital role of sports in youth development and school discipline, Hon. James Gunu presented sports kits (a full set of customized jerseys and two quality footballs per school) per school.
