The frequent rain causes various havoc such as flooding, environmental and public health issues such as growth of weeds, silting of drains and accumulation of refuse, all of which leads to the outbreak of various public health infections. As a result, all communities within the district were entreated to embark on a quarterly community clean-up exercise to clear accumulated refuse dumps and desilt drains.

Also, the District Assembly undertook intensive public health education to avert any flooding ant the outbreak of sanitation related diseases.

Assembly Members, Opinion leaders and Chiefs took advantage of the clean-up exercise to mobilize the youth groups to weed and clean paths, surroundings of water points and sanitary facilities. The monitoring also encouraged the participants on the importance of cleanliness and also educated them on disease transmission and measures to adopt in preventing infections.
