There has been a trend of individuals and groups involved in the construction of speed ramps in various communities without authority. In recent times, the North Dayi District Assembly has come across community members involved in similar dangerous act. Some individuals have started digging trenches in the middle of the road to create speed ramps.

Putting up unauthorised speed ramps causes a lot of havoc for road users and also end up destroying the road. Digging of holes and also the use of sand to erect speed ramps ends up creating potholes on the road as a result, increasing travel time and also causing accidents. These unauthorised speed ramps also cause accidents because they are poorly done and have no road warning signs.

Community members are entreated to refrain from engaging in this illegal act. Also, individuals are encouraged to report any unauthorised speed ramp construction at the District Assembly.
